Astroborbit — built for candid, made for bold
Astroborbit was founded in Québec City in 2018 by a photographer who spent the previous decade shooting live music and street portraiture — two disciplines that reward instinct over instruction. That background shapes everything about how we work today. We are a micro studio: typically two photographers, one retoucher, and a production coordinator. Small by design, because smaller teams move faster, communicate more clearly, and don't hide behind layers of account management. We've completed over 200 shoots since founding, covering weddings from Vieux-Québec to rural Charlevoix, portrait campaigns for tech startups and law firms, and event coverage for conferences with 500-plus attendees. Our post-production workflow is entirely in-house. Every image goes through a two-stage review before it reaches your gallery — first for technical quality (exposure, sharpness, colour accuracy), then for narrative coherence (does this frame add something, or is it a duplicate?). The result is a gallery you can share without filtering. Our editing signature — what we call the indigo-tech grade — pulls the cool, clean character of northern Québec light into every shoot. It's not a heavy filter or a fad; it's a considered colour language that gives your images a consistent identity whether they're on a billboard or a phone screen.
What we do well — and where we stop
We're strongest when you give us some breathing room. Weddings where the couple isn't interested in an hour of formal portraits, commercial briefs where the client trusts the process, events where we can move freely — these produce our best work. We are not the right studio if you need heavy photo-manipulation, extensive composite work, or a photographer whose primary mode is posing and directing. We also don't shoot real estate, food, or automotive as standalone services — those disciplines have their own specialists and we're not pretending otherwise. Results always depend partly on light, location, and the day itself; we manage variables aggressively but we won't promise you a specific mood if the afternoon sun disagrees. What we will promise: we show up prepared, we communicate before and after every shoot, and we deliver a gallery that reflects the day as it actually was — indigo-toned, sharp, and genuinely yours.
